Armidale Dawn

I arose early yesterday and was immediately struck by the orange sky. Normally our winter mornings are clear or with a touch of mist. However, a thin cloud band had moved in over night and the rising sun shone through it to create the lovely images below, which I shot from my study window. Alas, the nearby property development spoils the immediate foreground. Focus on the sky instead.

I had to be quick as the effect disappeared in about 5 minutes! The colour in the first picture is more intense than in the second, which was shot a minute later. By the way, in mid winter our sun rises at about 6.50 am. I seem to remember that such images would be at least an hour later in the UK.
