When I was a lot younger, two of the folk heroes of the time were Asterix and Obelix, the Gauls. The gave the Romans a run for their money and Obelix, the strong man of the two, used cart around Menhirs. Imagine my surprise, then, when I came across this Menhir near the village of Almandres in Alentejo region of eastern Portugal. From the rustling in the distance I was wondering if Obelix was still around.
